I wish you all a happy Sonnenwende! And I give thanks to the Sun-Goddess Sûnna whose light and energy grows our food, feeds our souls and lights our path. Upon this day the killing of Baldaeg is enacted out - that is the slaying of the light. Baldaeg (Balder) is the god of Light, Purity and Youth. He is the suns radiance who is killed by Loki the Joten-Juden.

In the above painting we see two goddesses kneeing at the side of Balder's horse. These are Sûnna and her sister Sinthgunt - goddesses of the Golden Sun and the Black Sun. The inspiration for the painting is from the Merseburg Incantation and within this script there is a clever word play where Balder is called Phol, and thus the foal (horse) himself. He is the dying light - and just like our Noble Race, who sink into the darkness - he will return after the winter sonnenwende, when the sun is reborn, just as our race will Triumph after this sleeping curse* is lifted.
